Chamomile

Chamomile is part of the Asteraceae plant family, flowering plant in the daisy family. 

German Chamomile or Matricaria recutita is a medicinal plant used in the herbal medicine to calm an upset stomach, menstrual cramp, canker sore, gentle sleep aid, etc.

The daisy like flower can be used fresh or dried for herbal tea. Used about 1 tablespoon of dried flowers to make a cup of tea. Some people like to mixed chamomile tea with a little bit of honey and fresh lemon juice to improve the flavor. 

Chamomile also contains small amount of coumarin, chemical compound found in many plants. Coumarin is an anticoagulant. Anticoagulant is a substance that prevent coagulation, stop blood from clotting. 

Talk to your doctor before taking chamomile if you take warfarin a blood thinning drug or vitamin K for blood coagulation. 

Talk to your doctor if you take medication before you drink any herbal tea. 

People who allergic to daisy like flower should not take chamomile.
